Jake’s Carpet was started in 1978 in the small town of Hamlin, PA, by Samuel "Jake” Kutz and his wife Nancy. Every small town needs a flooring store so they decided to take a chance and open up a full service carpet store. Serving the community of Hamlin and the surrounding areas, they worked side by side. As the business grew they hired employees Christine Kromko and Douglas Smith. Both Chris and Doug worked hard and learned the flooring business and how to provide the best customer experience.
Christine was hired in 1988 and worked her way from inventory manager all the way to head sales manager. She learned all of the ins and outs of the flooring business, from products to sales and decorating. Christine can help you coordinate your flooring, paint, and window treatments with ease! With 33 years experience you can trust her to help you find exactly what you are looking for.
Douglas was hired in 1995 to run the warehouse and worked his way to head estimating manager. Doug will come out and physically measure the areas that you want done. He will then lay out your job with the least amount of waste and optimum seam placements. Doug also measures and installs all of the window treatments as well. He is here to make sure your installation runs smoothly and answer any questions.
Chris & Doug continue to add more products and services, all while providing excellent customer service and good quality products. From start to finish – from selection to measuring to your installation they will both be with you to answer any questions and make your process as easy as possible.

Jake's Carpet is celebrating our 44nd Anniversary this year! Now in business for 44 years we have the knowledge and experience to make your floor and window covering shopping the easiest its ever been.
Usually from the time the measurement is done to the actual installation is approximately 2 weeks. Sometimes less, sometimes more depending on what we are doing for you. 2 weeks is a good estimate. During this time of Covid-19 things are taking longer than usual for deliveries and installations.
No, estimates are free of charge, however we do charge if it is an insurance estimate. If you need an insurance estimate for your insurance company there is a service fee. Otherwise, we will come measure and estimate your job to get you a price prior to anything being ordered or installed.
We have 5 large showrooms full of carpet, vinyl plank & tile, sheet vinyl, ceramic tile, hardwood flooring, laminate flooring, area rugs draperies, floor cleaning products and window treatments. We also have a huge warehouse that has many carpet and vinyl remnants. Don't let the small storefront fool you, we have it all!
Current store hours are Monday - Friday from 11 AM - 5PM and Saturday from 10 AM-2PM. We are closed on Sundays and major holidays
We have two payment policies. If we are installing the job, once your job is measured and estimated, we require a deposit to order. We then order the all the materials needed to complete the job. Once the materials are all received, we call you to schedule an installation date. The balance is due upon completion of the installation.
Cash & Carry and window covering invoices are required to be paid in full prior to ordering the materials.

As of July 1, 2009 The Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act went into effect in the state of Pennsylvania. The law establishes a mandatory registration program for contractors who offer or perform home improvements in PA. It establishes minimum insurance requirements, requires contractors to provide their registration number, prohibits unfair business practices, and creates a criminal penalty for home improvement fraud. Jake's Carpet is compliant with this law and our contractor number is PAOAGHIC001689.
Although this happens infrequently, if you have to cancel an order we look at each situation individually. If we had to special order something for you, there is usually a restocking fee that would be charged.
When you are sent your final invoice, you are also sent all the warranty, care and cleaning guides that pertain to your new flooring.
